Day 8-

Being home for all of these days has really given me a chance to think about things, actions I take, decisions I make. Our family was already doing a pretty go job of buying American products. But is it enough? Can we do better? I think we can. And this is why...

We have spent so many years just buying products out of need with little regard to where they are coming from. Meanwhile our parents, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters are losing or have lost their jobs here in America. People have lost hope. They have lost the hope of job stability and realize that no matter what their job their will always be risk of that job moving overseas because of cheaper wage.
How did this all happen? When did it begin? The answer is greed and unions that demand increases in wages. We shot ourselves in our own foot which is why buying American now is so important to our economy. It will be even more important for us once this pandemic has settled down.

Think of the auto industry and what it once was. Think of the thousands who no longer work those assembly lines, who no longer craft the American cars that we held so near and dear. Think of the homes in Detroit sitting abandoned.Think of Eastman Kodak, a company that employed half of Rochester, NY, buildings now vacant and the company just a fraction of what it once was. This is what happens when we stop buying American products. It is sad to think that 90-95% of our pharmaceuticals are made in China. What happened to America? All that's left is a shell, a fraction of what we once were.

I encourage everyone to give this some thought. Is it really that hard to buy American? Is it really that hard to research before you buy something? Think of the long lasting effects you alone will have on the economy. You alone can make a huge difference and for me it's worth it.

I hope I don't stand alone in this realization. I don't know about you, but I really want to leave a good solid future for my children, nieces and nephews and grandchildren. It really matters and we need to start making changes so that they are not left without hope.

Let me leave you today on a bright note with some more garden photos that were taken last season.

Until tomorrow. Enjoy your day!

Let your smile change the world but don't let the world change your smile!
